Coming Home

09/12/2019 - We drove about 200 miles and parked at the USA RV Park in Gallup, NM.  This is a great overnight campground.  We were very tired from all the tours and the driving, so we stayed in, had leftovers for dinner, and went to bed early.

09/13/2019 - Drove 213 miles from Gallup, NM to Williams, AZ where we parked in the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park.  The park is very clean and there are a lot of activities, not to mention all the sights to see in this quaint town.  It sits on the Railroad station and Hotel location.  The railroad makes 2 trips every day to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and back.  In the winter, it is turned into the Polar Express for the kids and their parents to enjoy.

Again, we stayed in the coach.  We had leftovers (different from last night), watched TV and some UTube videos, and went to bed early.  We planned a tour of the downtown area for tomorrow.

09/14/2019 - Tom and I wandered around the town.  We stopped in several shops, and had lunch at Anna's Café - it was really good, and the people there were very nice.  The whole town is built for tourists.  But of course, the big draw here is the railroad trip to the Grand Canyon.  We may come back here for a longer stay and a visit back to the Grand Canyon.

Tom and I are really wanting to get home.  We have actually been ready since Nashville.  This trip was just a little too long for us.  Also, we were a little worried about our family left at home.  Tonight we had a nice dinner, and called it a night.

09/15/2019 - We drove from Williams, AZ to Lake Havasu on the Colorado River.  I had already made reservations at a campground there, but I goofed and put us on the California side of the river where there is no City.  Lake Havasu City is on the Arizona side of the river.  But is was too late, and the reservations could not be changed .  They would not refund our payments, so we stayed in a dry and desolate campground.  It looks like they are trying to build a hotel and resort here, but I wouldn't hold out much hope of this area ever drawing in the people they will need.

The view of the river was very nice.  I only have one picture for this blog.  Here is a picture of the river with Lake Havasu City in the background,  taken through the window of the coach.

We parked and got settled, and rested a little more.  We cannot go anywhere, as there is nothing else here (we don't have a boat).  Another evening with cards and some TV.

09/16/2019  - Today we get the motorhome ready to go home.  I spent the day cleaning the inside of the coach, while Tom worked on the outside.  We packed up as best we could.  Tomorrow we drive home to Palm Desert.

09/17/2019 -   We arrived in Palm Desert around 1:30 p.m. and it is still too hot (about 106 outside) to try and unload in the afternoon, we camped across the freeway from our house in Thousand Trails Palm Springs (it is really in Palm Desert) for the night.  Not much to report here.  We had a lazy evening and planned to get up very early to unload in the cool of the morning.  Our home is only about 1 mile away, and it is so hard NOT to go home after all the time away (about 3 1/2 months) and so many miles (just a little less than 10,000 miles).  But, the coolness of the morning will be so much easier to unload the coach in.

09/18/2019 - We got up at 5:30 a.m., had our breakfast, walked the dogs, and pulled out of the campground and drove home,  We got home around 7:00 a.m. and Tom's mom saw up pull up in front of the house and was out to greet us.  She looked so happy to see us after such a long time away.  We visited with her a little and then got busy and unloaded the coach.  I cleaned the inside of the refrigerator after it was empty, and we had it parked in the RV garage at 11:00 a.m.  Back home for lunch and a rest.

We made it and we did not have to deal with the heat.  It felt so good to get home,  Vacations are wonderful and exciting to plan, but nothing feels any better than COMING HOME.
